On November 13, 2025, the Faculty of Economics at the University of Opole hosted a workshop titled “Housing Policy in the Visegrad Region”, organized as part of the project Inventory of Good Practices in Local Housing Policy in the V4 Countries (Contract No. 22430108). The workshop brought together an international team from the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, and Slovakia, focusing on exchanging experiences and comparing the approaches of local municipalities to housing policy across the Visegrad Group countries. The project is jointly funded by the governments of the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, and Slovakia through the International Visegrad Fund.
This workshop marked the first official gathering and public appearance of the international project team, which includes Eva Ardielli and David Slavata from VSB Technical University of Ostrava, Róbert Kovács Präger from Károli Gáspár University of the Reformed Church, and Marta Maciejasz from the University of Opole. The meeting also provided an opportunity to review local housing policies and compare approaches across the Visegrad Group countries, based on the recently completed country studies.
Participants included representatives from institutions actively involved in housing issues, such as banks, municipalities, and real estate agencies. The project also aims to produce professional publications, including studies, policy papers, monographs, journal articles, and conference presentations. So far, the close cooperation between partners has already led to joint conference participation and scholarly publications.
Looking ahead to 2026, two additional workshops are planned in Ostrava and Budapest, aiming to further stimulate discussion on local housing policies across the V4 countries.
